Future of Ornament Collecting
Christmas collectibles today reflect the tradition and sentiment of the occasion whether in an historical or more contemporary vein. Christmas celebrations have become more secular and encompasses a broader range of celebrants including non-Christians. Collectibles celebrate family occasions like first Christmas together or babies first Christmas to name just a couple.

Ornaments are themed around current movies, cartoon characters, music, food and directed around more serious issues as well. Advances in technology, education and technology are reflected in modern ornaments. In the future expect more ornaments themed after space exploration and other technical advances.

In the immediate future, experts expect the burgeoning Christmas collectibles category to take on other dimensions. More miniatures, as small as 2/3s of an inch high, perfect for table top trees or shadow boxes will be offered. There will be more personalization such as personalized ornaments introduced by companies like Hallmark and Enesco every year. More upscale looks such as annual ornaments by Baccarat and Lalique.
